How to Attract Some Favorite Birds That Live in Chesapeake, VA All Year Long

    Black Oil Sunflower Seed    

Buy seed or grow Sunflowers!


Northern Cardinal

Carolina Chickadee

Tufted Titmouse

Woodpeckers

House Finches

White-Breasted Nuthatch

 

 

White Proso Millet

Ground-feeding birds including:


Mourning Dove

Sparrows

Red-Winged Blackbirds

Grackles

 

 

Fruit-Bearing Native Plants

American Robins & Mockingbirds


Wild Cherry Tree (Prunus serotina)

Blueberry, Blackberry, Strawberry

Serviceberry or Shadbush

Southern Wax myrtle (requires male & female)

 

            

Water is VERY IMPORTANT All Year!


Provide fresh water in a shallow bird bath.  Trash can lids placed in the grass simulate a pond.

Birds will drink, splash & clean themselves.

Keep water fresh and clean the birdbath frequently.
